Comptia Network+

I have decided that my next certification will be the Network+ from CompTIA. After looking at other certifications on the market, such as the Cisco CCNA, I prefer the broader vender neutral approach that CompTIA brings to the table. Also, I am finding it more reasonable to complete the practice labs on with systems I have more familiarity. Up to this point I have had very little hands on experience with Cisco managed switches and routers so it seems a bet premature to seek that certification.

The CompTIA Network+ certification is an IT certification exam that verifies you have the essential knowledge and skills in networking to develop a career in IT infrastructure. Unlike other vendor-specific networking certifications, CompTIA Network+ prepares you to support the network regardless of the platform.
